Biography
Edmond Richard (6 January 1927 – 5 June 2018) was a French cinematographer. He was born in Paris and worked extensively in French and international cinema over five decades.
Richard served as director of photography on several Luis Buñuel films, including The Trial (1962), The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie (1972), The Phantom of Liberty (1974) and That Obscure Object of Desire (1977). He also collaborated with Orson Welles on Chimes at Midnight (1965) and The Trial (1962). Other credits include Les Misérables (1982), for which he received a César Award nomination, and later films such as Mayrig (1991).
In recognition of his career, Richard was awarded the Prix Henri-Langlois in 2011. He gave a detailed interview about his work in the same year.
