Biography
Edward M. Abroms (1935–2018) was an American film editor and television director. Born and raised in Hollywood, Los Angeles, he studied film at the University of Southern California before leaving to work at Republic Studios and later as an apprentice editor at Universal.
Abroms directed episodes of Columbo (1971), including 'Short Fuse' (1972) and 'The Most Dangerous Match' (1973), as well as episodes of series such as Murder, She Wrote (1984), The Six Million Dollar Man (1974), Hawaii Five-O (1969), Kojak (1973), CHiPs (1977) and Night Gallery (1970). He also edited numerous television episodes and feature films, including The Sugarland Express (1974) for Steven Spielberg, and received an Academy Award nomination for Blue Thunder (1983).
He won two Primetime Emmy Awards for editing, one for the 1970 television film My Sweet Charlie and one for Columbo in 1972. In 2006 he received the American Cinema Editors Career Achievement Award.
