Biography
Peter S. Fischer was an American television writer and producer. He wrote episodes for Columbo from 1974, serving as a story editor and executive story consultant, and contributed to series including Kojak, Baretta, Ellery Queen and McMillan & Wife. Some of his Columbo work was credited under the pseudonym Lawrence Vail.
With Richard Levinson and William Link, he co-created Murder, She Wrote (1984), serving as executive producer for its first seven seasons and writing or co-writing dozens of episodes. He also created The Eddie Capra Mysteries and Blacke's Magic.
After retiring from television in the 1990s, Fischer wrote more than twenty novels, primarily murder mysteries set in postwar Hollywood.
