Biography
Eiko Ishioka was a Japanese costume designer, art director and graphic designer. She studied at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music and began her career in advertising before moving into film and stage design.
Her film credits include production design and costumes for Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters (1985), for which she received a special award at Cannes, and costume design for Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), Closet Land (1991), The Cell (2000), The Fall (2006), Immortals (2011) and Mirror Mirror (2012). She won the Academy Award for Best Costume Design for Bram Stoker's Dracula and received a posthumous nomination for Mirror Mirror.
Ishioka also designed for theatre, including M. Butterfly, worked on the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and created album artwork, including for Miles Davis.
