Biography
Elías Querejeta was a Spanish film producer. Born in Hernani, Gipuzkoa, in 1934, he began his career in football, playing for Real Sociedad before moving to Madrid in the late 1950s to establish a production company.
He produced more than fifty films, many in collaboration with directors including Carlos Saura (thirteen films, among them The Hunt (1966), Peppermint Frappé (1967), Cría! (1976) and Deprisa, deprisa (1981)), Víctor Erice (The Spirit of the Beehive (1973) and El Sur (1983)), Montxo Armendáriz and Fernando León de Aranoa (Mondays in the Sun (2002)). He also produced several films by his daughter, the director Gracia Querejeta.
Querejeta died in Madrid in 2013.
