Biography
Ellsworth Hoagland, also credited as H. Ellsworth Hoagland and Howard Ellsworth Hoagland, was an American film editor. He began his career in 1933 editing One Sunday Afternoon and worked primarily at Paramount until 1955 before moving into television.
Hoagland edited The Lives of a Bengal Lancer (1935), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Film Editing. His other film credits include Holiday Inn (1942), Christmas in July (1940), Dr. Cyclops (1940), The Country Girl (1954) and Alice in Wonderland (1933). He later edited episodes of the television series Bonanza (1959–1968), winning a Primetime Emmy Award in 1966.
Hoagland was born on 15 August 1903 in California and died on 4 September 1972 in Los Angeles.
