Biography

Eric Brevig is an American film director and visual effects supervisor. He began his career in visual effects, working at companies including Dream Quest Images and Industrial Light & Magic.

He served as visual effects supervisor on films including Total Recall (1990), for which he shared an Academy Award for Special Achievement in Visual Effects; Hook (1991); Men in Black (1997); and Pearl Harbor (2001), the last of which also earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects. He directed episodes of the television series Xena: Warrior Princess (1995).

Brevig made his feature directorial debut with the 3D film Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008) and later directed Yogi Bear (2010). He has continued to work as a visual effects supervisor on later projects including The Maze Runner (2014) and Doctor Sleep (2019).
