Biography
Erica Messer is an American television writer and producer. She began her writing career on the series Alias in 2001, contributing as a writer and serving as story editor. She later wrote episodes for The O.C. (as executive story editor) and Charmed (as co-producer).
Messer joined Criminal Minds at its premiere in 2005 as a writer and rose through producing roles. She became co-showrunner in 2010 and sole showrunner in 2011, remaining in that position through the series' original run. She created the spin-off Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders (2016).
She attended Salisbury University in Maryland, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts, and began working in television production in Los Angeles after graduation.
