Biography
Ernest George Palmer was an American cinematographer who worked on more than 160 Hollywood films. His earliest known credit was the 1912 adaptation of Ivanhoe. He was born on 6 December 1885 in Kansas City, Missouri, and died on 22 February 1978 in Pacific Palisades, California.
Palmer’s credits include 7th Heaven (1927), Street Angel (1928), Cavalcade (1933), City Girl (1930), Blood and Sand (1941) and Broken Arrow (1950). He won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography (shared with Ray Rennahan) for Blood and Sand and received nominations for Four Devils (1928), Street Angel (1929) and Broken Arrow (1950). He worked extensively for Fox and later 20th Century Fox.
