Biography
Evelyn Selbie (also credited as Evelyn Selby) was an American actress who appeared in both stage productions and films. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, she began her career in stock theatre companies in New York and elsewhere, performing in plays such as Human Hearts and The Cat and the Canary, and later worked in vaudeville before entering motion pictures in 1912.
She was the leading lady for Broncho Billy Anderson at the Essanay Company for nine years and became known as the original 'Broncho Billy Girl'. Her film credits include uncredited roles in Wings (1927), A Night at the Opera (1935) as the Fortune Teller in 'Trovatore', The Devil-Doll (1936) and Tower of London (1939). She continued working in films until 1949 and also appeared in Fu Manchu serials.
