Biography
Fanny Ardant is a French actress and film director. She was born on 22 March 1949 in Saumur, Maine-et-Loire, France. She studied political science at the Institut d'études politiques d'Aix-en-Provence and made her stage debut in 1974.
Ardant gained prominence in the early 1980s with roles in films directed by François Truffaut, including The Woman Next Door (1981) and Confidentially Yours (1983). She is known for performances in Pédale douce (1996), for which she received a César Award for Best Actress, 8 Women (2002), Elizabeth (1998) as Mary of Guise, and La Belle Époque (2019). She has won two César Awards and a Lumières Award.
