Biography

Fernando Coimbra is a Brazilian director and screenwriter. He graduated in film and video from the University of São Paulo in 1999 and began his career making short films that screened at festivals including Clermont-Ferrand.

His feature debut, the thriller A Wolf at the Door (2013), won awards at the San Sebastián International Film Festival and the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival, and received a Directors Guild of America nomination. He subsequently directed episodes of Narcos (2015–2017) and the Netflix film Sand Castle (2017).

Coimbra has also directed episodes of Perry Mason (2023) and created the miniseries Senna (2024). In 2017 he received a Sundance Institute Global Filmmaking Award.
