Biography
Ford Rainey (8 August 1908 – 25 July 2005) was an American stage, film and television actor. Born in Mountain Home, Idaho, he studied at Centralia College and the Cornish School in Seattle before training at the Michael Chekhov Theatre Studio in Connecticut. He made his Broadway debut in 1939 and appeared in productions including Twelfth Night and J.B.
Rainey’s film career began with White Heat (1949). He played Harris in The Sand Pebbles (1966) and appeared in 3:10 to Yuma (1957), Two Rode Together (1961) and Halloween II (1981). On television he had recurring or guest roles in series such as Bonanza, MAS*H, The Bionic Woman and The King of Queens. He also served in the US Coast Guard during the Second World War.
Rainey was married to Sheila Hayden from 1954 until his death from complications following strokes. He remained active in theatre into his nineties.
