Biography
Frances Langford (born Julia Frances Newbern Langford, 4 April 1913 – 11 July 2005) was an American singer and actress. She appeared in films from the mid-1930s onwards and was active in radio during the Golden Age of Radio.
She made her screen debut in Every Night at Eight (1935) and appeared as herself in Broadway Melody of 1936 (1935). Other film credits include Born to Dance (1936), Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942) and The Glenn Miller Story (1954). On radio she performed regularly with Bob Hope and, from 1946 to 1951, co-starred with Don Ameche in the comedy series The Bickersons.
During the Second World War Langford toured extensively with Hope to entertain US troops overseas.
