Biography
Francesc Orella i Pinell is a Spanish actor born on 11 June 1957 in Barcelona. He trained at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona and at the Herbert Berghof Studio in New York.
He has worked in film, television, theatre and dubbing since the 1980s. Orella is known for his title role as philosophy teacher Merlí Bergeron in the series Merlí (2015) and its spin-off Merlí. Sapere Aude (2019). His film credits include Julia's Eyes (2010), The Invisible Guest (2017), Mirage (2018) and The Good Boss (2021). He received the Max Award for Best Actor in 2008 for An Enemy of the People and a National Theatre award in 2009.
