Biography
Franco Columbu, also credited as Francesco Columbu, was an Italian-American bodybuilder and actor. Born in Ollolai, Sardinia, Italy, he won the Mr Olympia title in 1976 and 1981. He appeared as himself in the 1977 bodybuilding documentary Pumping Iron.
Columbu had small acting roles in several films, notably as the Future Terminator in The Terminator (1984), a Pictish Scout in Conan the Barbarian (1982), and a 911 Security Officer in The Running Man (1987). He also had an uncredited role in Predator (1987). A longtime friend of Arnold Schwarzenegger, whom he met in 1965, he served as best man at Schwarzenegger’s 1986 wedding to Maria Shriver and trained Sylvester Stallone for Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985). He later worked as a chiropractor.
