Biography
Françoise Collin was a French film editor. She was born on 15 June 1937 in the 12th arrondissement of Paris and died on 16 February 2026 in Pérignat-lès-Sarliève. She trained at the Institut des hautes études cinématographiques (IDHEC), graduating in the 14th promotion (1957–1959).
Collin began her career in 1961 as a co-editor of Chronicle of a Summer, directed by Jean Rouch and Edgar Morin. She went on to edit five films by Jean-Luc Godard in the 1960s, including Band of Outsiders (1964), A Married Woman (1964), Pierrot le Fou (1965), Made in U.S.A. (1966) and 2 or 3 Things I Know About Her (1967). She also worked as script supervisor on The Trial of Joan of Arc (1962).
Later credits include three films for Philippe Garrel: Night Wind (1999), Wild Innocence (2001) and Regular Lovers (2005). Her final credit was the short Histoire naturelle (2006). Over a 45-year career she amassed more than thirty editing credits on both features and documentaries.
