Biography
Franklyn Seales was an American film, television and stage actor. Born on 15 July 1952 in Calliaqua, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, he moved with his family to New York City in 1960. He trained at the Juilliard School on a scholarship from John Houseman and was the first known graduate from Saint Vincent.
Seales appeared in The Onion Field (1979) as Jimmy Lee 'Youngblood' Smith and had a minor role in Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979). He played Simms in Southern Comfort (1981) and portrayed Dexter Stuffins in the sitcom Silver Spoons (1982–1987). Other credits include roles in Hill Street Blues and Growing Pains.
He also worked in theatre, including productions of Shakespeare plays, and was a painter. Seales died on 14 May 1990 in New York City.
