Biography
Fritz William Weaver was an American stage, film and television actor. He was born on 19 January 1926 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and died on 26 November 2016 in New York City.
Weaver made his Broadway debut in The Chalk Garden (1955) and won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play for Child's Play (1970). His film debut came in Fail Safe (1964); he later appeared in Marathon Man (1976) as Professor Biesenthal, Creepshow (1982) and The Thomas Crown Affair (1999). On television he portrayed Dr Josef Weiss in the miniseries Holocaust (1978), earning a Primetime Emmy Award nomination, and appeared in episodes of The Twilight Zone, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and The X-Files.
