Biography
G. Wood (born George Wood, 31 December 1919 – 24 July 2000) was an American film, television and stage actor, usually billed as G. Wood. He was born in Forrest City, Arkansas, and died in Macon, Georgia.
Wood appeared as the psychiatrist in Harold and Maude (1971). He played Brigadier General Hammond in the film MASH (1970) and reprised the role as Brigadier General Charlie Hammond in three episodes of the television series MASH (1972). He was one of only four actors to appear in both the film and the series. Other film roles include Crandall in Brewster McCloud (1970), Andrew Constable in Bank Shot (1974) and a conventioneer in Tightrope (1984).
A stage actor and original member of the Circle in the Square, Wood attended Carnegie Tech and worked in New York and regional theatre.
