Biography

Gabriel Dell (born Gabriel Marcel Dell Vecchio) was an American actor. Born in New York City on 8 October 1919, he began his career as one of the original Dead End Kids in the 1935 Broadway play Dead End and its 1937 film adaptation. He appeared in further films with the group under names including the East Side Kids and the Bowery Boys, as well as other features such as Angels with Dirty Faces (1938) and Earthquake (1974).

Dell worked extensively in television during the 1960s and 1970s, with guest roles including Chester in The Fugitive (1963), Arvel in I Dream of Jeannie (1965), and appearances in Mannix, McCloud, Sanford and Son and Barney Miller. He also performed on Broadway in productions such as The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window (1964). He died of leukaemia in North Hollywood, California, on 3 July 1988, aged 68.
