Biography
Garth Craven was an English film editor. Born on 28 February 1939 in Cleveland, Yorkshire, he studied philosophy and English at the University of Leeds. He began his career in sound editing, working on Federico Fellini’s Satyricon (1969) and receiving a BAFTA nomination for dubbing editor on Joseph Losey’s The Go-Between (1971).
Craven collaborated frequently with director Sam Peckinpah, contributing sound work and editing on six of his films, including Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid (1973), Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (1974) and Convoy (1978). He later edited numerous studio features, among them Turner & Hooch (1989), My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997), Legally Blonde (2001) and Peter Pan (2003). He also served as second unit director on several projects.
Craven died on 20 May 2023 in Barcelona, Spain.
