Biography
Gary Scott Thompson is an American screenwriter, television producer and director. Born on 7 October 1959 in Ukiah, California, he grew up in Pago Pago, American Samoa. He trained as an actor at the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts, earned a BA from the University of California, Irvine, and an MFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
Thompson wrote the screenplay and story for The Fast and the Furious (2001) and the story for 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003). He created, wrote and executive-produced the NBC series Las Vegas (2003–2008), directing four episodes and appearing in one. Other film credits include Hollow Man (2000), Split Second (1992) and 88 Minutes (2008), which he also produced. He co-developed and executive-produced Taxi Brooklyn (2014).
