Biography
Gayne Rescher, also credited as Jay Gayne Rescher, was an American cinematographer. He served as director of photography on the feature film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982), directed by Nicholas Meyer.
Rescher was born in New York City on 19 December 1924, the son of cinematographer Jay Rescher and silent-film actress Jean Tolley. He began his career in the 1950s with credits including A Face in the Crowd (1957). He worked on further features such as Rachel, Rachel (1968), A New Leaf (1971) and Claudine (1974), before moving primarily into television from the 1970s. Rescher also shot the television film The Day After (1983) for Meyer.
He received three Primetime Emmy Awards for cinematography and multiple nominations, along with American Society of Cinematographers awards. Rescher died in Gig Harbor, Washington, on 29 February 2008.
