Biography
Gebhard Henke is a German producer and commissioning editor. Born on 20 May 1955 in Holzminden, he studied German literature and history at the Freie Universität Berlin. He joined Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) in 1984, later serving as head of the Fernsehspiel programme group from 1998 and head of the Fernsehfilm, Kino und Serie department from 2009. He was also ARD Tatort coordinator.
Henke produced or commissioned numerous films and series for WDR, including Run Lola Run (1998), The Princess and the Warrior (2000), Good Bye Lenin! (2003), Antichrist (2009) and Babylon Berlin (2017). He co-initiated WDR series such as Avanti Debütanti and was a professor at the Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln from 2001, teaching creative production and editing. In 2018, following allegations of sexual harassment and abuse of power from multiple women, WDR terminated his employment.
