Biography
Geoffrey Beevers is a British actor born on 15 January 1941 in Chichester, West Sussex. He was educated at Tonbridge School and Wadham College, Oxford, where he read History and graduated with a B.A. in 1962. He has worked extensively in theatre, including at the Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond, where he has acted and directed, and as an adaptor of novels by George Eliot; his adaptation of Adam Bede (1990) won a Time Out Award.
On television, Beevers appeared as Kevin Coley in the 1984 series The Jewel in the Crown, as Wainwright in the 1988 series A Very British Coup, and as Ralston in the 1965 series Public Eye. He is also known for playing the Master in the Doctor Who serial The Keeper of Traken (1981), the third actor to take the role, and has reprised it in Big Finish audio dramas. His other screen credits include roles in Victor/Victoria (1982), Miss Potter (2006), Clash of the Titans (2010 remake) and The Sandman (2022).
Beevers was married to actress Caroline John from 1970 until her death in 2012; they had three children.
