Biography
George Aliceson Tipton (also credited as George Tipton) was an American composer, musical arranger and conductor. Born on 23 January 1932, he died on 12 February 2016. He worked extensively in television and film, composing scores and incidental music for numerous series and providing original music for the feature film Badlands (1973).
Tipton composed themes and music for television programmes including Soap (1977), its spin-off Benson (1979), The Love Boat (1977), The Golden Girls (1985) and Empty Nest (1988). He also contributed to the animated film The Point (1971) and the feature Phantom of the Paradise (1974).
He is noted for his long collaboration with singer-songwriter Harry Nilsson, for whom he arranged and conducted albums and the single "Everybody's Talkin'" in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
