Biography
George Dickerson was an American actor. Born in Topeka, Kansas, he appeared in numerous film and television roles from the late 1970s onwards.
He is known for playing Detective Williams in David Lynch’s Blue Velvet (1986) and Police Commander Swanson in the first season of Hill Street Blues. Other credits include Psycho II (1983), No Mercy (1986), Death Wish 4: The Crackdown (1987), After Dark, My Sweet (1990) and Death Warrant (1990), as well as guest appearances in series such as Little House on the Prairie, Miami Vice and The Flash.
Before acting, Dickerson worked as a writer, poet and playwright, and served as a United Nations diplomat in Lebanon. He was the father of Finnish film director Dome Karukoski. Dickerson died in New York City in 2015.
