Biography
Gilles Adrien (1951–2017) was a French screenwriter, director and comic-book author. Born in Oran, he began his career contributing to publications such as Hara-Kiri Hebdo and Métal Hurlant before moving into film and television.
He co-wrote the screenplay and dialogue for Delicatessen (1991), directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro, for which he received the César Award for Best Original Screenplay. Adrien also contributed to the screenplay and dialogue of The City of Lost Children (1995). He worked on numerous animated television series, including Albert le cinquième mousquetaire and Le Magicien.
Adrien directed the short film Le Chien noir (1995) and the television film Rue Oberkampf (2000). He also wrote for other directors, including Rachid Bouchareb on L’Honneur de ma famille (1998).
