Biography
Glynn Edwards was a British actor who appeared in television and film from the mid-1950s to the mid-1990s. He was born John Glyn Edwards on 2 February 1931 in Penang, Malaysia, and died on 23 May 2018 in Edinburgh, Scotland. He trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London and spent ten years with Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop, performing in the West End and on Broadway.
Edwards came to national prominence as Dave Harris, the barman at the Winchester Club, in the ITV series Minder (1979–1994). His film roles included Cpl. Allen in Zulu (1964), the Police Station Sergeant in The Ipcress File (1965), Albert Swift in Get Carter (1971), and appearances in Robbery (1967), Shaft in Africa (1973) and Under Milk Wood (1972). He also featured in numerous British television series, often in supporting or guest parts.
His first wife was actress Yootha Joyce.
