Biography
Godehard Giese is a German actor. Born on 20 October 1972 in Bamberg, he grew up in Hamburg and studied German and Italian at Humboldt University before training in acting at the Universität der Künste Berlin from 1997 to 2001. He was a member of the Stadttheater Hildesheim from 2001 to 2003 and began working in film and television from 2005.
Giese is known for roles including Wilhelm Böhm in the series Babylon Berlin (2017–), Colonel Krüger in Alone in Berlin (2016), Richard in Transit (2018), and staff at the Volmer Institute in A Cure for Wellness (2017). He has also appeared in Submergence (2018), The Conference (2022), and Rose (2026) as the large-scale farmer. He directed the 2014 film Die Geschichte vom Astronauten.
Giese has received several awards, including the German Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for Sad Jokes (2024) and the German Television Academy Award for Best Actor. He was nominated three times for the German Film Award.
