Biography

Greta Meyer was a German actress who appeared in numerous Hollywood films, typically in small or uncredited roles as maids, housekeepers and similar characters. Born in 1883 in Dessau, Germany, she began her career in European theatre and silent films, including De jantjes (1922) and Die Königsloge (1929). She moved to the United States in 1923 and became a citizen.

In Hollywood from the early 1930s, Meyer featured in films such as Grand Hotel (1932), Bombshell (1933), Libeled Lady (1936), The Women (1939) and Bitter Sweet (1940). She played Frau Schuman in Naughty Marietta (1935). Her screen career continued into the 1940s with roles including in Friendly Enemies (1942) and An American Romance (1944). She died in 1965 in California.
