Biography
Hal Kanter (1918–2011) was an American writer, producer and director who worked principally in comedy for film and television.
He wrote screenplays for films including Artists and Models (1955), The Rose Tattoo (1955), Loving You (1957), Blue Hawaii (1961), Pocketful of Miracles (1961) and Move Over, Darling (1963). He created and served as executive producer on the television series Julia (1968–1971) and worked as a writer and producer on All in the Family (1971).
Kanter contributed regularly as a writer to the Academy Awards broadcasts, beginning in the early 1950s. He won multiple Emmy Awards for his television work.
