Biography
Hans-Uwe Bauer is a German actor. Born on 26 August 1955 in Stralsund, he trained as a stage carpenter at the Staatsoper Berlin before studying acting at the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen Potsdam-Babelsberg. He began his career in East German theatre and DEFA films, with his screen debut in 1979.
Bauer is known for roles in Good Bye, Lenin! (2003) as Dr. Mewes, The Lives of Others (2006) as Paul Hauser, The Young Karl Marx (2017) as Arnold Ruge, Never Look Away (2018) as Prof. Horst Grimma, and Dying (2024) as Gerd Lunies. He has appeared in numerous television productions, including episodes of Tatort and Inspector Rex. In 2024 he received the Deutscher Filmpreis for best supporting actor for his performance in Dying.
