Harriet Slater is good at keeping a screen partnership involving when the writing offers little help. Her work with Arsema Thomas in Fall 2: Deadpoint gives us reason to follow her, though the film itself merits only a qualified recommendation.

In Fall 2: Deadpoint (2026), two women need to get across something nobody ought to be walking on. Harriet Slater, as Jax Hunter, and Arsema Thomas, as Luce, give us a human reason to keep watching. We cared whether they got across safely because the actors kept their partnership involving despite the thin dialogue. Thomas makes the physical jeopardy felt more keenly; Slater helps hold our interest when the writing offers little beyond disagreement.
Slater's move into leading roles has taken in period television as well as genre films. Her Sandra Onslow in Pennyworth (2019–2022) came before a supporting appearance in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023). Clara Trenchard in Belgravia: The Next Chapter (2024) and Ellen MacKenzie in Outlander: Blood of My Blood (2025) put her at the centre of historical dramas. Haley in Tarot (2024) belongs to the horror side of that work.
Fall 2: Deadpoint also makes clear how much depends on the writing she is given. Jonathan Frank and Scott Mann give the women practical ingenuity, then rely on basic disagreements to make their situation worse. Slater and Thomas make that material involving without making its weaknesses disappear. Their partnership earns our attention; the recycled conflicts do not always deserve it. We would recommend the film cautiously to devotees of climbing thrillers, not as proof that Slater can make any script work.
What we would ask of another thriller part for her is a conversation worth staying for once the immediate danger has passed. There is enough in her work with Thomas to make us interested in what she could do with a relationship written in greater detail. For an introduction, try their climbing predicament if heights already make you uneasy. Expect the dialogue to provide occasional relief.

Harriet Marston Slater is an English actress. She trained at the Guildford School of Acting, graduating in 2016, and began her professional career in regional theatre, including productions at the Theatre Royal Plymouth and with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
On television, she is known for her roles as Sandra Onslow in the series Pennyworth (2019–2022), Brenda in All Creatures Great & Small (2020), Clara Trenchard in Belgravia: The Next Chapter (2024) and Ellen MacKenzie in Outlander: Blood of My Blood (2025). Her film credits include Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023) as Fran, Tarot (2024) as Haley and Jax Hunter in Fall 2: Deadpoint (2026). She was named a 2023 Bright Young Thing by Tatler.
