Biography
Harry Crocker was an American actor, assistant director and uncredited screenwriter. Born in San Francisco, he worked as a journalist for the Los Angeles Examiner while appearing in films from the mid-1920s onwards.
He is known for playing Rex, a tightrope walker, in Charlie Chaplin's The Circus (1928), in which he also served as assistant director. Crocker contributed uncredited screenplay work, as well as assistant director and unit publicist duties, on Chaplin's City Lights (1931). He later appeared in small roles in films including The Big Parade (1925), Gentleman Jim (1942) and Limelight (1952).
Crocker was a member of the prominent Crocker family and maintained a long association with Chaplin, despite a temporary rift during the production of City Lights. He died in Beverly Hills in 1958.
