Biography
Hayden Rorke was an American actor. He was born William Henry Rorke on 23 October 1910 in Brooklyn, New York, and died on 19 August 1987. He trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and began his stage career in the 1930s with the Hampden Theatrical Company, appearing in several Broadway productions.
During the Second World War he served in the US Army and made his film debut, uncredited, in This Is the Army (1943). After the war he returned to Broadway before moving to Hollywood in 1949, where he took small and uncredited parts in films including An American in Paris (1951). He appeared as Dr. Hennessy in All That Heaven Allows (1955) and as Julien Ralph in the television film The Legend of Lizzie Borden (1975).
Rorke is best known for his recurring role as Dr. Alfred Bellows in the television series I Dream of Jeannie (1965–1970). He also appeared in episodes of The Twilight Zone, I Love Lucy, Perry Mason and The Love Boat, and in films such as Pillow Talk (1959) and When Worlds Collide (1951).
