Biography

Helen Lynd, also credited as Helene Lynch, was an American actress and comedienne. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on 18 January 1902, she began her career in 1919 as a chorus girl in a Broadway revue. She performed under the name Helene Lynch in early stage work before appearing on Broadway in musicals and revues including Yes, Yes, Yvette (1927), The Little Show (1929–1930) and The Earl Carroll Vanities (1931–1932).

From the mid-1930s she worked primarily in film in California, appearing in shorts and features until the late 1940s. Her film credits include Of Mice and Men (1939) as Susie, Lucky Partners (1940) as Ethel, Murder in the Air (1940) as Dolly, The Strawberry Blonde (1941) as Josephine and Power Dive (1941) as Mabel. She was married to talent agent Al Melick and died in Beverly Hills, California, on 1 April 1992.
