Biography
Helene Whitney, also credited as Helene Reynolds, Kenyon Fortescue and Joyce Gardner, was an American actress. Born Kenyon Fortescue in Brussels, Belgium, she appeared in films from the late 1930s to the mid-1940s, often in supporting roles.
Her screen credits include The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939) as Fleur de Lys (as Helene Whitney), The Philadelphia Story (1940) as a Main Line Society Woman (uncredited), Moontide (1942) as Woman on Boat, and Heaven Can Wait (1943) as Peggy Nash (as Helene Reynolds). She later performed in stage productions, including several Broadway musicals in the 1940s and 1950s.
After her marriage to J. Louis Reynolds (1936–1939) she was known as Helene Reynolds. She was a grandniece of Alexander Graham Bell and a first cousin once removed of President Theodore Roosevelt.
