Biography
Henry Stephenson, also credited as Henry Stephenson Garraway or Harry Stephenson, was a British stage and film actor. He appeared in over 90 films between 1917 and 1951. His roles included Sir Joseph Banks in Mutiny on the Bounty (1935) and Lord Willoughby in Captain Blood (1935).
Born in Grenada, British West Indies, to British parents, Stephenson was educated in England. He began acting in his twenties and made his Broadway debut in 1901 in A Message from Mars. He performed in more than 30 Broadway productions before moving into film work.
Stephenson appeared in several films with Errol Flynn, including The Charge of the Light Brigade (1936), The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex (1939) and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1939). He was married to actress Ann Shoemaker and had one daughter. He died in San Francisco in 1956.
