Biography
Herschel McCoy (1912–1956) was an American costume designer who worked on more than 150 feature films between 1936 and 1955. He began his career at 20th Century Fox, where he designed costumes primarily for B-movies, including several entries in the Charlie Chan and Mr Moto series.
From 1951 he worked at MGM on larger productions. His credits include Quo Vadis (1951), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Costume Design, Julius Caesar (1953) and Dream Wife (1953), the latter earning him a second Oscar nomination (shared with Helen Rose). He also contributed to Joan of Arc (1948). McCoy died suddenly in Los Angeles at the age of 43.
