Biography
Hiro Narita is a Japanese-American cinematographer. He was born on 26 June 1941 in Keijō (now Seoul), then part of the Empire of Japan. He studied graphic design at the San Francisco Art Institute, graduating in 1964, and later apprenticed with filmmaker John Korty.
Narita's early credits include camera work on Never Cry Wolf (1983), for which he received awards from the National Society of Film Critics and the Boston Society of Film Critics. He served as director of photography on Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989), Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991), The Rocketeer (1991), Hocus Pocus (1993), James and the Giant Peach (1996) and The Arrival (1996). He is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers.
