Biography
Hisako Kyōda is a Japanese actress and voice actress. Born on 22 February 1935 in Tokyo, she trained at Aoyama Gakuin Women's Junior College and has been active since 1945. She is affiliated with the talent agency Haikyō.
Kyōda is known for numerous voice roles in anime, including Obaba in Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984), Genkai in Yu Yu Hakusho (1992), Kaede in InuYasha (2000), Chiyoko's Mother in Millennium Actress (2002), and Ito Morita in In This Corner of the World (2016). She has also appeared in Hunter x Hunter (2011), Memories (1995), Violet Evergarden: The Movie (2020), One Piece Film: Strong World (2010) and Paranoia Agent (2004).
In 2019 she received a Merit Award at the Seiyu Awards.
