Biography
Howard Korder is an American screenwriter, playwright and producer. Born in New York City on 24 November 1957, he first gained recognition as a playwright with works including the 1988 play Boys' Life, which received a Pulitzer Prize for Drama nomination, and Search and Destroy, later adapted into a 1995 film.
His screen credits include the teleplay for The Passion of Ayn Rand (1999) and the screenplay for Lakeview Terrace (2008). Korder joined the writing staff of the HBO series Boardwalk Empire (2010–2014) as a supervising producer, later serving as co-executive producer and executive producer; he wrote 24 episodes across its five seasons. The first-season writing team shared a Writers Guild of America Award for Best New Series.
Subsequent television work includes writing and producing on The Right Stuff (2020), writing an episode of Perry Mason (2020) while also serving as consulting producer and appearing as an actor, and writing and executive producing the miniseries Franklin (2024). He has received Primetime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Drama Series for his work on Boardwalk Empire.
