Biography
Hugh Bateup is an Australian production designer and art director. He began working with the Wachowskis as one of the art directors on The Matrix (1999), later serving as supervising art director on The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions (2003).
Bateup advanced to production designer on several of their subsequent projects, including Cloud Atlas (2012), Jupiter Ascending (2015) and The Matrix Resurrections (2021). His other production design credits include The Shallows (2016) and I Am Mother (2019), as well as the series Sense8 (2015–2017). He has received three wins and eight nominations for his work.
