Biography

Isao Hashizume (橋爪功) is a Japanese actor born on 17 September 1941 in Osaka. He trained at the Bungakuza acting school and has been affiliated with the theatre group Enkikaku.

His film credits include the voice role of Prince Kuramochi in The Tale of the Princess Kaguya (2013), as well as appearances in Tampopo (1985), I Wish (2011), The Eternal Zero (2013), Tokyo Family (2013), After the Storm (2016) and The Third Murder (2017). He has also worked as a narrator for documentaries and appeared in numerous television dramas, including taiga series. Hashizume has received several nominations for the Japan Academy Prize.
