Biography
J. Roy Hunt, also credited as Roy Hunt and T. Roy Hunt, was an American cinematographer. Born John Roy Hunt on 7 July 1884 in Caperton, West Virginia, he worked in motion pictures from the silent era, beginning around 1916, until the early 1950s. He was a member of the American Society of Cinematographers.
Hunt served as director of photography on more than 200 films. His credits include Beau Geste (1926), Flying Down to Rio (1933), She (1935), I Walked with a Zombie (1943), Crossfire (1947) and Mighty Joe Young (1949). He died in October 1972 in Sheffield, Alabama.
