Biography

Jack Amiel is an American television writer, producer and screenwriter. Born and raised in Manhattan, he attended the Fieldston School and the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he studied history. He began his career writing for sitcoms in the 1990s and has worked frequently with writing partner Michael Begler.

Amiel and Begler co-created the Cinemax period medical drama The Knick (2014–2015), serving as showrunners and writing the majority of its episodes. They also wrote the screenplays for the feature films Raising Helen (2004), The Prince & Me (2004), The Shaggy Dog (2006) and Big Miracle (2012). In 2021 they joined Perry Mason (2020) as showrunners and writers for its second season.
