Biography
Jack Casady is an American bass guitarist best known as a member of Jefferson Airplane. He appears as himself in several concert documentaries, including Monterey Pop (1968), Gimme Shelter (1970) and Woodstock (1970).
Born in Washington, D.C. on 13 April 1944, Casady joined Jefferson Airplane in late 1965. The band became one of the first successful exponents of the San Francisco Sound, with singles such as "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit" charting in 1967 and 1968. Casady and the other members of the band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. He has also performed with Hot Tuna.
