Biography
James L. Venable is an American composer of film and television scores. Born on 19 May 1967 in Santa Monica, California, he began as a drummer in 1980s new wave and rock bands before moving into electronic music and hybrid orchestral composition.
He is best known for his scores to the animated series The Powerpuff Girls (1998–2004), Samurai Jack (2001–2004) and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends (2004–2009), the last of which earned an Emmy nomination and Annie Awards. His feature film work includes Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001), Scary Movie 3 (2003), EuroTrip (2004), Scary Movie 4 (2006), Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008) and Jay and Silent Bob Reboot (2019). He has maintained a long collaboration with director Kevin Smith.
